Warm up
Drinks sorting exercise
  1. pupils guess how much sugar they think is in their own drinks (per 100ml or per portion), put in order of most to least
  2. pupils discuss their own consumption of sugar to understand what drinks they consume that contain sugar
  3. visually show sugar using sugar cubes that have been weighed out to match sugar in pupils own drinks
  4. pupils to then plot amounts on a graph which can be put on the classroom wall
Consolidation
  1. pupils investigate and identify positive alternatives to the drinks they currently consume
  2. pupils present back their findings to the class

Use a sliding scale to visually represent drinks and the sugar they contain.

Challenge

Pupils pair up and calculate how much sugar is consumed in a week from drinks and plot on a graph to visually represent.
