Abattoirs successfully prosecuted

1, Could you supply a list of abattoirs, both red meat & poultry, successfully prosecuted by the FSS* in Scotland in the following years - 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 to date

2, Details of the reasons for prosecution - eg offences under the xx legislation, xx act, xx law broken etc

3, If available, details of the penalties e.g. fine, imprisonment, other

Food Standards Scotland (FSS) was established on 1 April 2015, when it took responsibility for the functions previously delivered in Scotland by the Food Standards Agency (FSA). You may wish to contact the FSA for information relating years prior to April 2015.

FSS does not have authority to decide whether cases will be prosecuted: in Scotland, that decision rests with the Procurator Fiscal.

During the period April 2015 to date, FSS has referred 4 animal welfare breaches for further investigation. One case has been progressed and the food business operator was issued with an FSS Formal Warning. Investigations are ongoing in the other 3 cases.
