How much is Europe(or your country) committing to this emerging project.

Your reply

I need the current information on how much, in US Dollars or your currency, the EU or your country is committing to mycotoxin research in the attempt to enhance food safety. I just want to know how various countries are responding to the emerging technology in this field.

Food Standards Scotland (FSS) have funded several mycotoxin surveys for food and animal feed including the Oat-Based Commodity and Non-Dairy Alternative Drinks Chemical Contaminants Survey which can be found on our website: Oat-Based Commodity and Non-Dairy Alternative Drinks Chemical Contaminants Survey | Food Standards Scotland and a joint Food Standards Agency (FSA)/FSS survey on mycotoxins in cat food which is shortly due to be published by FSA. The value of FSS financial contributions to these projects were £50,000 and £10,000 respectively.

Further research on mycotoxins in food and feed may be funded by Scottish Government or other public sector organisations and research institutes out-with FSS. Details of further research projects would be available from their respective divisions, organisations and institutes.

The regulatory requirements for the UK in relation to mycotoxins are set out in the Annex to the retained EU Regulation 1881/2006.

In FSS we can also confirm that there are no commodities subject to enhanced import controls for mycotoxin risks from Africa as required by Regulation 2019/1793 (High Risk Food Not of Animal Origin) or any import declarations.
